Established in 1933, Japanese knife brand Sukenari has gained a reputation among Japanese knife makers for quality. Using the same forging techniques used to craft samurai swords, Sukenari has been recognized for its ability to create 'Honyaki' knives that excel in edge retention and durability as well as their superb cutting ability. However, this technique is extremely difficult and time consuming, so in recent days Sukenari has started forging knives from 'high speed steel' such as R2 and HAP40 while maintaining the same quality of blade sharpness and edge durability.
