The Otsuka Green Tea contract tea garden at the foot of Mt. Awagadake, which is rich in the colors of the four seasons, is located in the eastern part of Kakegawa City, which boasts one of the largest production volumes in Japan. The fertile soil rich in nutrients, climate with large temperature difference between day and night, and terrain where fog is likely to occur during the harvest season, all of which are suitable for tea plant cultivation.
The cultivated land that was cultivated by the Kakegawa feudal clan at the end of the Edo period has been handed down from generation to generation under the management of tea plantations that mainly use organic fertilizers.
We believe that this soil, which has been created exclusively for tea making over 150 years, is the most important for making delicious tea.The rare tea leaves grown with great care in these best tea gardens are made into Aracha (row material for sencha tea) and stored in cold storage at around -5 degrees Celsius to keep them fresh.
In 2021, Otsuka Seicha acquired the international safety certification ISO 22000.
The final process of making sencha tea, including roasting, is carried out at the main plant, which is thoroughly sanitized.
We will continue to strive to produce delicious tea that satisfies our customers under the slogan “every day is a diligent effort”
Efficient work process from picking, tea making, and preparation. In particular, the packaging of "Aracha", is divided into 30 kg units to maintain freshness, vacuum packed, packed in cardboard boxes, and stored at a low temperature of -5 degrees
Efficient work processes from plucking, tea production, and preparation. In particular, the packaging of rough tea, the raw material for sencha, is separated into 30kg portions, vacuum-packed, packed in cardboard boxes, and stored at a low temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius to maintain freshness.
Daily Improvement of Tea Making
